Khulna Khonjonis wins MPL

Musical teams Khulna Khonjonis and Dhaka Dholoks have become the champion and runner up of the 7up Musical Premiere League 2016-Powered by Kurkure.

The announcement came at the grand finale of the music competition held at the Nabaratri Hall of the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital last night, said a press release.

A total of eight musical teams from as many divisions took part in the competition, which began on April 4, organised by Asiatic 3sixty and sponsored by Transom Beverages Ltd.

The competition aimed to hunt music talents from every corner of the country, said organisers.

The teams were: Dhaka Dholoks, Khulna Khonjonis, Chittagong Chimes, Barisal Beats, Rangpur Rockers, Comilla Chorus, Sylhet Sargams and Rajshahi Rhythms.

The champions were awarded with Tk 10 lakh while the runners up got Tk 5 lakh. Other prizes included the title of Kurkure Performer of the Day and gifts from Transcom Digital.

The participating singers from Khulna Khonjonis were Rakhi, Bonny, Bipul and Shujon, while the contestants of Dhaka Dholoks were Nafis, Mati, Shahanz and Al Saba.

Addressing the function, Transcom Beverages Ltd Deputy Managing Director Khurshid Irfan Chowdhury said, “7up has not only been recognised as the best beverage for the past six years in a row, but has also earned a position in the hearts of the youth for the numerous cultural programmes and activities the brand has partnered till date.”

Channel i Director and Head of News Shaikh Siraj said, “We are extremely glad to have initiated such an innovative musical competition for the country.”
