Indigo starts Dhaka-Kolkata flight Aug 1

IndiGo, the largest low-cost carrier of India, is set to start Dhaka-Kolkata flight every day from August 1, with exciting airfare for passengers.

“We are pleased to announce Dhaka as our ninth international destination effective August 2018,” says William Boulter, Chief Strategy Officer, IndiGo.

Passengers would be able to buy tickets through its official website www.goindigo.in, and the all-inclusive fares would start from Tk 5,031, according to a release of IndiGo.

The IndiGo flights from Dhaka depart at 7:10pm, with options for convenient connections to Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.

Starting airfare of a Dhaka-Delhi-Dhaka via Kolkata (departure August 1, return August 4) showed Tk 11,700 when an input was made into the system of IndiGo.

With this airfare, IndiGo is certainly going to stretch the existing competition between airlines in this popular destination to a new level.

Currently, four Bangladeshi carriers-- state-run Biman, US-Bangla, Regent and Novo – are operating flights to Kolkata alongside India's Air India, Jet Airways and Spicejet.

Frequent visitors to India are understood to be happy with the news. Businessman Ashiqur Rahman is one of them. “Healthy competition is always good. It means affordable airfare and good service for passengers,” he told the newspaper when contacted.
