Homemaker shot dead in Feni home

A homemaker was shot dead by a man at her parental home in the district's Daganbhuiyan upazila yesterday.

The dead is Sharmin Aktar of Nayanpur village in the same upazila.

Victim's family members said Sharmin, aged about 22, got married eight months back and stated living at her in-law's home in Noakhali's Senbagh upazila. She recently came to Nayanpur to visit her father's family.

Yesterday afternoon, one Jahangir Alam of Nayanpur village entered the house and started talking to her.

A scuffle broke out between the two when the 30-year-old man tried to rape the woman. At one stage, Jahangir shot Sharmin with a pistol and left the area.

Sharmin was rushed to a local doctor who declared her dead.

According to victim's sister Farida Khatun, Jahangir exchanged heated words with Sharmin before shooting her dead.

She also said their family had no feud with Jahangir.
