Hasina seeks more Saudi investment

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday sought more investment and cooperation from Saudi Arabia for developing Bangladesh's different sectors, including shipbuilding.

“We have to find out other areas of economic cooperation for mutual benefits of the two brotherly countries,” she said when visiting Saudi Prince Turki bin Abdullah Aziz Al Saud and his brother Prince Badar bin Abdullah met her at the Gono Bhaban in the evening.

PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.

Expressing satisfaction over the existing ties between the two countries, Hasina said Bangladesh has special relations with Saudi Arabia which are deeply rooted.

She highly appreciated the commendable role of the “Fael Khair” programme being run by the King Abdullah Humanitarian and Charitable Foundation.

Apprising the premier of the programme activities, Prince Turki bin Abdullah Aziz Al Saud, also chairman of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, said it provides long-term solution to the emergency shelter of the vulnerable people of Bangladesh's south-western part exposed to recurrent natural calamities.

PM's Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad, Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Mashi and President of Islamic Development Bank Ahmad Mohamed Ali Al-Madani were present.
