Girl gang-raped in Bagerhat

A 24-year-old girl has allegedly been gang-raped in Ranjitpur village of Sadar upazila. 

Her elder sister yesterday filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, accusing five people, including Fakir Fahm Uddin, chairman of Khanpur Union Parishad, said Mahatab Uddin, officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Sadar Police Station.

On Wednesday night, the accused took the girl to a bush forcibly and raped her. She was going to visit her relative's house in North Khanpur village, the OC said.

On information, police rescued the girl and admitted her to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for medical tests, the police official added.
