Criminals hack journo in Jessore

Unidentified miscreants hacked a journalist of a local newspaper in Jessore yesterday evening.

Locals rescued Ananda Das, 55, of the local daily Pratidiner Katha, from Harinapotar Beel area in Jessore city around 6:00pm, Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Police Station, told The Daily Star.

Ananda's body bore injury marks made from sharp weapons in the neck, hands and legs, the OC said.

He was rushed to Jessore General Hospital and is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, he added.

The OC said Ananda was out of danger.
