Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB), Krishok Sramik Janata League (KSJL) and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rab) today formed a new political alliance titled National Democratic Front (NDF).
In a meeting at the Jatiya Press Club this evening, BDB President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, KSJL President Kader Siddiqui and JSD President ASM Abdur Rob made the announcement of the 'third alliance' apart from the ruling and opposition alliances.
In a joint manifesto, the new alliance demanded cancellation of the "one-sided" January 5 parliamentary election and expressed its support to the opposition's December 29 Dhaka March.
The manifesto also includes cancellation of the 15th amendment to the constitution and formation of a neutral Election Commission.
Badruddoza Chowdhury, who was president of the country during BNP rule, later resigned from the party and formed the Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh.
Kader Siddiqui, the state-awarded freedom fighter, was a lawmaker of the ruling Awami League. He later resigned from the party and formed Krishok Sramik Janata League.
ASM Abdur Rob was a hero of the 1969 mass upsurge. He along with three other leaders hoisted the first flag of Bangladesh on March 2, 1971 at Dhaka University.
