AL picks candidates for Dhaka-18, Sirajganj-1 by-polls

The ruling Awami League has picked Habib Hasan for Dhaka-18 and Tanvir Shakil Joy for Sirajganj-1 to contest the upcoming by-polls constituencies.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader disclosed the information at a briefing at his official residence in the capital today.

The Dhaka-18 seat fell vacant after the death of former minister and Awami League presidium member Sahara Khatun on July 9, while Sirajganj-1 seat was vacant following the demise of former minister and Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim on June 13.

The by-elections to Dhaka-18 and Sirajganj-1 constituencies will be held on November 12 using electronic voting machines.
