The government will shut down the colleges where teachers and students do not attend classes regularly, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid warned today.

“What will we do with such colleges? We will shut down those,” the education minister said while attending a workshop at National Academy of Educational Management (Naem), reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

Around 300 college principals took part in the workshop titled “My Thought about College”.

“The students go to coaching centres. Teachers leave colleges also. Their attendance should be ensured in the class,” he said.

He said every college must have their own calendar with all information about classes and holidays. “If you don’t have these, you should not take the responsibilities (to run a college),” he said.
