ASUS Transformer Book V

ASUS have always been the "ultra-light, thin and powerful" freaks. That might put the ideas they come up with in a rather small box but every now and then they do take a peek outside. At this year's Computex they surprised all tech enthusiasts by going beyond that. Transformer Book V is ASUS's way of saying, "Two heads are better than one". What makes it stand out among all others? Well, for starters, it's a device that can run both Android and Windows though it's not ASUS's first time marrying these two major operating systems. And despite what they unveiled months ago, this recent one became an instant hit. Why? Well I can find FIVE specific reasons: a Windows tablet, a Windows laptop, an Android phone, an Android tablet and oddly enough, an Android laptop.
What we have is, a 5 inch smartphone running Android KitKat 4.4, a Tablet running Windows 8.1 and a keyboard dock that contains 1TB of storage and USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. The smartphone has 64GB internal storage that you can extend to another 64GB with a micro SD. It has a 2GB RAM, 8 mega-pixel camera in the back and 2MP in the front and boasts an Intel quad-core Atom processor; with Intel HD Graphics and a 2500mAh battery. It also has a 720p display and Zen UI. On the other hand, the 12.5 inch tablet is powered by the next generation Intel core processor. Packed inside is a 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics, HD camera, 128GB storage and a 28Wh battery.
Spec wise both the devices look great but the spotlight falls on other features. First of all comes the keyboard dock, unlike its weak competitions this one doesn't connect to your tablet just as an external keyboard; rather it adds a storage of 1TB to it and two USB ports for further connectivity. Second of all, the smartphone can be docked at the back of the tablet integrating seamlessly with it. Thus flawlessly converting the Windows 8.1 device into an Android device. With ASUS's PC link technology, the tablet can now switch between two OS with the press of a button. And when the keyboard is connected, the users get an Android laptop. Isn't that amazing? And to top it up, the keyboard has Bluetooth options which means you don't always have to attach it to the tablet to use it. Be it at home or office, one can sit back and work with the keyboard on his/her lap and the screen at a distance. This is truly an awesome device.
