[WATCH] First glimpse of “Bhuban Majhi” is quaint and musical

The first look of upcoming film “Bhuban Majhi” has just been released online, and although it’s just a teaser, the Parambrata-Aparna starrer already looks seriously promising.
Placed in a peaceful, rural setting, the 86-second teaser is entirely set on a soft, romantic song and highlights the chemistry between two powerhouse actors, Aparna Ghosh and Kolkata’s Parambrata Chatterjee. There has been buzz that the film will span a whooping timeline from the 1970s to 2013, with the Liberation War forming a pivotal plot point. The sequences look quite like they could be from the earlier parts of that timeline. Maznun Mizan and Sushma Sarkar are seen in brief glimpses, but a number of other cast members – Mamunur Rashid, Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed and Shubhashish Bhowmick are not to be seen.
The government-funded film depicts the story of Ananda Shai, a spiritual man living in Kushtia. When a journalist goes to Kushtia to make a documentary on Ananda Shai, he discovers Ananda Shai was once a Freedom Fighter who valiantly fought for the country. As the story unfolds, the development of Ananda Shai from rebel Hazrat is revealed.
“Bhuban Majhi” depicts a number of historical incidents like the 1970s general election, the horror of March 25, the EPR rebellion in 1971 and more.
As far as the teaser goes, the cinematography creative, and gives a vibe of rural simplicity while promising an engaging story.
According to the filmmaker, the film is based on true events and even the characters’ names have not been altered. The film has already shot in Kolkata and Kushtia, and is expected to hit theatres this November.
