Television Play Directors' election held

Directors' Guild, an organisation of television play directors, recently held its first ever election. Established in 2002, Gazi Rakayet has been elected as the president with 184 votes and SA Haque Olik as the general secretary with 203 votes says a press release.

The widely welcomed result of the election was announced on July 23. However among 384 voters, 354 votes were cast.

The organisation has its first democratic president Gazi Rakayet; vice-president Syed Shakil; general secretary SA Haque Olik; assistant general secretary Hridi Haque; organising secretary Kamruzzaman Sagar; finance secretary Nayeem Imtiaz Neyamul and publicity secretary Jewel Mahmud.

Dr. Enamul Haque was Election Commissioner. There were as many as 53 contenders for eight positions.
