Monthlong “Bangabandhu'r Attokothon” on Channel i

Marking August, which is the month of sorrow for Bangalees as the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu was assassinated this month in 1975, Channel i is airing a month long special programme, “Bangabandhu'r Attokothon”. Based on Bangabandhu's “Oshomapto Attojiboni” (Incomplete Autobiography), the programme is airing at 8:45pm every day, from August 1-31.

Bangabandhu began writing his autobiography in a diary when he was imprisoned at the Dhaka Central Jail in 1967. The diary came to light in 2004 and his daughter Sheikh Hasina, now the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, took the initiative to publish it as a book. In the book, Bangabandhu wrote about the context of writing the autobiography, his background, social and political activities, the famine, religious riots, partition, Language Movement and his political insights. Alongside, his family life, days in prison, and his travels to India, China and the erstwhile West Pakistan.

At the programme, eminent personalities will read excerpts from the book, including Hasanul Haq Inu, Syed Shamsul Huq, AAMS Arefin Siddiqui, Kamal Lohani, Abul Hayat, Mafidul Haque and Hashem Khan – among others. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also speaks in a special episode of the programme,

Faridur Reza Sagar and Shykh Seraj have planned the programme, coordinated by Syed Shamsul Huq with research from Shamsuzzaman Khan. Shahidul alam Sachchu and Raju Alim are the panel producers of the TV show.
