Noted actor-director Alamgir's next directorial venture, “Ekti Cinema'r Golpo” has finally set a release date, coming to theatres across the country around Pahela Baishakh, on April 13. The director confirmed the news to The Daily Star.

The film, for which Alamgir has written the script and screenplay and is also acting, will also see him reunite with noted yesteryears heroine Champa, who he will be acting in the film opposite. Champa's debut film, “Nishpap” (1986) was also directed and starred in by Alamgir, and although the two worked together as co-actors in a few films, this is an actor-director reunion of sorts.

“Champa is a very serious actor,” says Alamgir. “Her dedication and sincerity to the craft is rare today. She has done an amazing job in the film, and I have tried my best to make a contemporary film for a tasteful audience; I am strongly hopeful that they will go to watch it.”

“When I worked under his direction for the first time, I knew very little about films,” says Champa. “But when I look back at those days, I realize he was a great director even at that time.”

“Of course he is a gifted actor, but I would say he is more talented as a director than many others. If he had set his mind to it, he could have given us many more good films. He's a very cooperative director, and has been an immense pleasure to work with him after so long,” she added.

The film, which is being produced from Alamgir's Icon Entertainment banner, also stars Arifin Shuvo and Kolkata's Rituporna Sengupta in the central roles.
