Tirjak's theatre fest opens today at Shilpakala

In celebration of its 40 years of journey, Tirjak Natyadal is holding a two-day theatre festival on June 5 and 6 at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). Through this two-day festival, Trijak, a renowned theatre troupe based in Chittagong, will conclude the year-long celebration of their 40th anniversary celebration.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the festival along with eminent litterateur Syed Shamsul Haq, while Dr. Anupam Sen, Vice-Chancellor of Premier University will preside over the opening ceremony.

The festival will feature two plays: Sophocles' "Oedipus" and Tagore's "Roktokorobi" in addition to a souvenir display, discussion, award giving ceremony and folk songs of Chittagong.

Tirjak will also honour four luminaries of theatre arena: Ramendu Majumder, Mamunur Rashid, Ataur Rahman and Nasiruddin Yousuff on June 6. Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AZM Nasiruddin will attend the event.
