Swapnadal to hold Selim Al Deen festival

Marking the 66th birth anniversary of Nattyacharya Selim Al Deen on August 18, theatre troupe Swapnadal is holding a two-day festival on August 18-19. This is the 12th time the troupe is holding the festival. 

Selim Al Deen's widow Begumzadi Meherunnesa will inaugurate the festival at the seminar room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). A discussion and a seminar will be held on the occasion, chaired by thespian Ataur Rahman. Nasiruddin Yousuff, SM Mohsin, Akhtaruzzaman and Babul Biswas, among others will attend the programme. Later, Selim Al Deen-written "Hargaj" will be staged by Swapnadal at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA in the evening. The play is directed by Zahid Repon. 

Earlier in the day, the troupe, along with fans and followers of Selim Al Deen, will travel to Jahangirnagar University by bus in the morning to hold a rally and lay wreaths at his grave. 

On the second day of the festival, Swapnadal will stage Rabindranath Tagore's lyrical play "Chitrangada", also directed by Zahid Repon – who is a student of Selim Al Deen.
