Prangonemor's Theatre Fest ends today

Juboradj Padak to be awarded

BotTala's “Crutch'er Colonel” is one of the plays nominated.

Prangonemor's "Dui Bangla'r Natya Mela 2017" theatre festival comes to a close today at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. As part of the festival, Prangonemor will also award the "Prangonemor Juboraj Padak", an award in loving memory of thespian Khaled Khan (who was known better by his nickname Juboraj in the theatre fraternity). A jury board selected three plays premiered in 2016 from the 44 productions brought to the stage last year – Aranyak Natya Dal's "The Jubilee Hotel", BotTala's "Crutch'er Colonel" and Bibartan Jessore's "Maatbring". One of these plays will be handed the award today.

The festival will come to a close with the staging of India's Kalyani Natya Charcha Kendra's production of "Nuroldiner Sarajibon", the landmark play by Syed Shamsul Haq.

Theatre troupe Prangonemor's seventh theatre festival opened on March 10 at the National Theatre Hall, and has so far staged four plays from India and Bangladesh each.
