Palakar returns with “Ujane Mrityu”

With the aim of popularising studio theater practice and interactive implementation of theater in creating social consciousness, Palakar started their journey in 2002. Their thirteenth production , Ujane Mrityu was staged in the Studio Theater Hall in National Shilpokola Academy, yesterday. The production is directed by the young director Shamim Sagar. The story is based on the drama by influential Bangladeshi novelist Syed Waliullah.

On their philosophy for promoting studio productions, Director Shamim Sagar says, " The studio theater practice reduces the distance between the audience and the actor, the minute expressions of the actor is visible to the audience which help them to connect with the play better  " says director Shamim Sagar.

The play not only portrays the original text but also incorporates elements from the society for example, Mahajan songs of Sunamgonj district is used in the play, read excerpts from Gita about life. The actors of the play are the members of Palakar's new batch. With brilliant visuals and music they play portray the subtext of the story.

Aminur Rahman Mukul, the initiator of Palakar says, "We have tried to involve the young theater students into studio theater productions to develop their skills and enhance their confidence. It is easier for the group to design a mainstream theatre." Alongside this, they also practice interactive theater through which they try to being about social development. They perform among the people and allow them to interact with the actors while they play is taking place. An interesting exchange between the performer and audience thus take place.

After a long break, Palakar is finally back with a promising production and it is very encouraging for audiences of theatre.
