National Folk Theatre Festival concludes in Sylhet

The first National Folk Theatre Festival concluded in Sylhet with the play, Kanai Chader Nandini, by Rangpur Natyakendra.

At the festival, eight theatre troupes from each division of Bangladesh staged one folklore-based theatre show individually, starting from January 19.

The festival was organised by Natyamancha Sylhet, in association with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Indian Assistant High Commission, Sylhet, and Sylhet City Corporation.

With the slogan, Loko Banglar Ahobane, Mancha Jagao Joygane, the festival was inaugurated by veteran theatre activist Nasir Uddin Yousuf Bacchu.

The programme began with Bhola Theatre's play, Gronthikgon Kohen, written by Selim Al Deen.

Chapainawabganj's rural folklore troupe took part in the traditional play, Alkap Pancharash, Avaguard from Chattagram staged Nobanno, Fire Asho and Bahurupi Natya Sangtha from Mymensingh staged Mohua. Natyamancha Sylhet staged Rangamala, Nagarik Natyangan from Dhaka staged Gohor Badsha O Banesa Pori and Bibartan from Jashore staged Bratto Ami Montrohi as well.
