Moliere's “Pejgi” staged in Mymensingh

Ensemble Theatre staged satirical play "Pejgi" at Muslim Institute auditorium this week. Translated and adapted by Apu Anam, the play has been directed by Abul Monsur, president of the troupe.

The original play "Le Médecin malgré lui" was written by Moliere, a renowned 17th century French dramatist, actor, director and all-round artiste known for his innovative stage comedies.

This play satirises the many quacks that were running around Europe at the time promising miracle cures, said the organisers.

The cast of the play included Joy Saha, Ayrin Akhtar Pushpa, Nafisa Sultana, SM Wares Hasan and Fayzullah Fayez. The background artistes were Tanjida Wahid, Amol Basak, Mahfuz Sristi and Arup Krishna.

Earlier, a discussion was held. Md. Harun-ur-Rashid, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Mymensingh was the chief guest. Ensemble Theatre advisors-Lutfunnesa Beauty and Dr. Sirajul Islam, folk researcher Shah Saiful Alam Pannu, eminent eye specialist Dr. Horishankar Das and Md Khalilur Rahman were the special guests.

Asaduzzaman Rubel, secretary of the group, delivered the welcome speech.
