Friday Theatre School: An act for children

Friday Theatre School, a non-profit theatre school, began its journey in 2005. The impetus behind the school is an urge to create a platform where urban children can learn theatrical art.

The institution is coordinated by theatre activist Ashish Khondker and supported by Alliance Francaise de Dacca.

About the school Ashish Khondker, a graduate of National School of Drama, Delhi, said, "It is a platform for urban children since they rarely have scope for recreation or learning theatre. At our school we train children between 6-14 years in different forms of theatre through shows and interactive sessions. We do English plays so that children can develop the articulation and know about the connection between language and acting."

He also added that "This is basically an interactive school and we focus on different forms of art. We draw upon experts from different fields and they teach our children."
