“Baidyanath-tala theke Mujibnagar” staged in Meherpur

A play "Baidyanath-tala Theke Mujibnagar" was staged at the Mujibur Memorial Complex on Tuesday night on the occasion of the historic Mujibnagar Day observed here on April 17. The play, written by Liaquat Ali Lucky, was produced by Bakar Bakul.

An octogenarian, with a piece of cloth cleans dust from Mujibnagar Memorial Complex. At one stage, he reaches the middle of the monument; and is shocked on touching upon a red marked spot; the spot symbolises where the oath-taking ceremony of Mujibnagar Government had taken place in April 17, 1971. The octogenarian revisits his memories of the 1970 general election,  the turbulent month of March 1971, historic speech of Bangbandhu in March 7, the Operation Searchlight, call of Liberation War by Bangabandhu and finally oath taking ceremony in Baidyanath-tala. The man tries to find out the history of that time, traces the footsteps of the men who played historic role during the time and much more...

Thousands of people including students enjoyed the play. Among others, veteran jurist Barrister Amir-ul-Islam and lawmaker of Meherpur-1 Farhad Hossain were present.

Lucky, in his speech, said that the play symbolises the quest to present the real history of the Liberation War to the present generation.
