Since he was a student, veteran actor Farooque has been enthusiastic about politics. This year, Farooque received his nomination letter from the Awami League to compete for Dhaka 17 constituency. After receiving the letter, he went to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to express his gratitude. The actor talks about achieving the nomination.

How do you feel about receiving the nomination letter?

Words are not enough to express how I feel at the moment. The love I have received from my well-wishers is overwhelming. I am honoured to receive this letter from a party that I have always wanted to serve.

What do you plan to do for the citizens?

I want to add to the many contributions of our Prime Minister. Even as an actor, I always wanted to entertain the mass. As a politician, my ultimate goal will be to serve the citizens of our country.

How are the reactions from the people of your hometown, Kaliganj?

I am sure that they are delighted that I am contesting for Dhaka 17 constituency. We are all Bangladeshis at the end of the day, regardless of which districts we come from.

How do you plan to manage both politics and films?

The film industry has given me immense love and respect. The industry plays a central role in my life. Being a politician will not stop me from contributing to showbiz.
