TV specials to watch on International Mother Language Day

The world celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity on International Mother Language Day tomorrow (February 21). With that in mind, The Daily Star brings you a compilation of some notable television shows that will be aired in the country.

Special tele-fiction "Ondhokaarkathir Ujjol", based on the Language Movement and Liberation War of Bangladesh, will be presented on Bangladesh Television at 9 pm tomorrow. The production features Mahmud Shazzad, Sharmili Ahmed, Sayem Samad, and Tahia Hossain, among many others. "Itihash Kotha Koy", a cultural programme featuring dance recitals and musical performances, will air at 10:20 pm.

Duronto TV will broadcast a special show, "Jhutum Pakhir Kotha" on February 21, at 8:30 pm, to commemorate International Mother Language Day. Written by Nur Siddique and directed by Monirul Hossain Shipon, the show features Syed Hasan Imam, Sabiha Zaman, Jitu Ahsan, Sushma Sarker, and child actor Mugdhota Morshed Riddhi.

Ekushey TV will air two special programmes, "Ami Ki Bhulite Pari" hosted by Pijush Bandyopadhyay, and "Mayer Vasha" hosted by Soumittro Shekhor at 6:30 pm and 10 pm, respectively, tomorrow. Asim Shah will be present as a guest at "Ami Ki Bhulite Pari", whereas renowned novelist Selina Hossain and popular singer Fakir Alamgir will be present as guests at "Mayer Vasha".

Jutum Pakhi

"Rokto Polash Topto Shimul", a special dance performance featuring noted dancers Shibli Mohammad and Shamim Ara Nipa, will air at 8 pm today on Boishakhi TV.

Tele-fiction "Amar Bornomala", with Tariq Anam Khan in the lead, will air at 8 pm tomorrow on Maasranga Television.

Mayer Bhasha

Three documentary-based programmes, "Ami Ki Bhulite Pari", "Shahid Minar", and "Amar Bhasha Amar Ohonkaar" will air on Deepto TV at 7:05 pm, 8:10 pm, and 8:30 pm respectively, tomorrow.

Two special programmes, "Mayer Bhasha" hosted by Ahsanul Haque Palash and "Maatribhashar Jonne" hosted by Jahirul Alam, will air at 12:20 pm and 1 pm, respectively on NTV tomorrow. Special tele-fiction "Shompod", starring Zakia Bari Mamo, Mukit Zakaria, and Siam Nasir, among others, will be presented at 9:30 pm tomorrow.
