At a time where albums are deemed ‘obsolete’ and ‘relics of the past’, The Industry: Volume ii, an extravagant double-disk album co-ordinated by Adit and Chisti Iqbal and featuring some of the biggest names in the music faternity, surprised everyone at its launch at 138 East on Saturday.

As 138 East prepared for the event, a slew of young stars, as well as the heavy hitters of the industry including Bappa Mazumder, Elita Karim, Milon Mahmud, Adit, Parvez Sazzad and Pritom Hasan among others, showed up amidst the excitement and the anticipation. In a room bumbling with celebrities, Bappa’s Dure Harao, the first track in the album, played and stumped everyone with its fantastic melody. “I am extremely grateful to Adit for this wonderful song,” says Bappa, “an album such as this is definitely a blessing for us, as it has a theme to it, and the production is organic.”

The event, hosted by Monir Khan Shimul and Adit himself, gave an opportunity to all the involved artistes to speak about their experiences of making the album. Rakib Hasan Rahul, an emerging lyricist, wrote seven tracks for it. “I am beyond honoured to have written lyrics for the likes of Bappa Mazumder, Tahsan, Mila and Mizan, and I am very proud of this accomplishment,” says Rahul. Young up-and-comers such as Sayon Mansang, Niloy, Bammy Rahman and Oirabot were also given an opportunity to showcase their talents in the album, and their songs, Jodi Tumi Jantey, Shohor, She Jey Chole Jay and Guruchandali lived up to the trust put in them by the producers.

“Besides simply producing quality music, we want to ensure revenue for all artistes,” says Adit.“This was a major philosophy behind the album.”

Throughout the event, the artistes thanked Chisti Iqbal for his unending effort on the project. “Collaborations such as these are very difficult to pull off, but the presence of artistes such as Bappa Mazumder, worked as a real driving force for me. I am grateful to everyone for their hard work and dedication,” says Chisti.

After the event concluded, the marvelous beats of Rajatto’s Paayer Niche Mati Nai, rocked the entire venue, making it clear that The Industry: Volume ii will not only be a big hit, but will look to change the industry to its core.

The album’s physical copy is now available at Shwapno, and the songs will soon be released on all online platforms.
