Syed Jahangir passes away

Renowned artist Syed Jahangir passed away today at 11 am in his own residence in Dhaka. His body will be brought to the Fine Arts Department of Dhaka University at 3.30 pm. The artist was 83 years old at the time of passing.

The deceased artist’s funeral prayers will be held after Asr prayers at the Dhaka University central mosque.

Syed Jahangir was born in Satkhir in 1935. He served as the director of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy for 16 years. In 1985, the artist was honoured with Ekushey Padak.
