Actor, model, anchor and television personality Sonia Hossain has garnered immense popularity over the years, after stepping into the limelight with You Got the Look in 2003. Since then, she has appeared on numerous television commercials, projects and even a film.

She launched her official YouTube channel, Soniac, in February this year. "I want to collaborate with emerging young artistes," shares Sonia. "There are many creative people out there who are not getting proper recognition. I want to make my channel more versatile for different groups of people."

The multitalented artiste is set to host her own web show, Be My Guest, featuring South Asian artistes from across the globe. The show's guests will talk about their experiences, their struggles as well as dealing with self-isolation during the pandemic. "All of these artistes have inspired me over the years and I believe that their stories will inspire others as well," adds Sonia.

The first episode of the show features Sharbari Zohra Ahmed, the Bangladeshi-American writer of Raisins not Virgins, Dust Under Her Feet and many other notable works. Sonia shared that she could relate to most of Sharbari's struggles as an artiste. The episode will be out on Soniac soon.

Self-isolation has led Sonia to gain a different perspective on life. "I wasn't fully aware of my own capabilities. The isolation period is helping me to figure out what I can do for myself as well as for others," she says. "I am trying to stay busy and explore different aspects of my home."

Sonia's husband Ahmed Steve is a poet. She has been working with music videos and poem visualisations, featuring his poems and songs. Recently on Mother's Day, Sonia launched a special video, featuring her mother. "My mom is a spontaneous and witty woman. She always pushes me to be the best version of myself," she says. "Moving forward, I want to be involved with things that I love, as an artiste."
