Samira Haq sues Salman Shah’s family for BDT 10 crore

Samira Haq, who was married to celebrated actor Salman Shah, filed a case for Tk 10 crore against his mother Nilufar Zaman Chowdhury, his younger brother Chowdhury Mohammad Shahran Evan and his maternal uncle Alamgir Kumkum.

"I filed the case in a Chattogram court several months ago. A member of their family even showed up at court once," Samira told The Daily Star. "Since then, they have been quiet. They have reduced his death to a business of sorts, by presenting it as a murder, whereas investigations have repeatedly proven that he died by suicide. They have turned people against me by telling a fabricated story for the last 24 years. But Emon (Salman Shah) loved me a lot."

She further said, "I was charged with his murder right after he died. I stayed quiet, out of my respect for the law. I was very frustrated and even thought of suicide. But now, it is time to speak up."

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) will give their final verdict on the Salman Shah case in October. "After the final verdict, I will ask for an account of many things from his family. I have spoken to my lawyer about this," added Samira.

Salman Shah passed away on September 6, 1996. At the time, his father Kamaruddin Chowdhury filed a case of unnatural death, where no one was accused. Since then, many have been interrogated and put in the list of suspects, in relation to the case.
