Results for the general elections for Directors' Guild Bangladesh announced

Salauddin Lavlu was re-elected president of the guild.

Current president Salauddin Lavlu has been re-elected as president of the Directors Guild, the largest organisation of television drama directors.

He has defeated Ananta Hira and Dipu Hazra with 170 votes whereas Ananta Hira got 149 votes. Meanwhile, Kamruzzaman Sagar has been elected the new general secretary of the Directors Guild. He has defeated Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raj with 170 votes whereas Raj got 161 votes.

The general elections for Directors' Guild Bangladesh committee for the year 2012-2022 was held yesterday between 9 am and 5 pm at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).

Renowned actor S M Mohsin played the role of the Chief Election Commission whereas noted actor Naresh Bhuiyan and popular playwright Masum Reza acted commissioners. Talented artistes Syed Hasan Imam, Abul Hayat, and Mamunur Rashid were in charge of the appellate division. Thirty-four candidates were vying for twelve posts in the Directors Guild committee. The Chief Election Commissioner announced the election results tonight.

Masum Aziz, Rafiq Ullah Selim, and Faridul Hasan have won the post of vice-president whereas Piklu Chowdhury and Firoz Khan have won the post of joint general secretary. Ferrari Amit has won the post of organizational secretary and Shaheed Un Nabi has won the post of publicity and publication.

Mostafa Manon has won the post of Training and Archive Affairs Secretary. Anisul Haque Emal has won the post of Information and Technology Affairs Secretary and Mahmoud Akkas has won the post of law and welfare officer. Golam Muktadir Shan has won the post of office secretary. Sajjad Hossain Soni has won the post of finance secretary.

In addition, seven members of the executive have passed without an advance vote. The seven members are Hafizur Rahman Suruj, Abu Hayat Mahmud, Imraul Huda Rafat, KM Mahmudunnabi, AKM Anisuzzaman Anis, Tariq Mohammad Hasan, Mostafizur Rahman Sumon.

"The election is going very smoothly. Voters are coming to vote with interest. I am very happy with the election," said election commissioner and eminent playwright Masum Reza. 

"I am grateful to all the members of the Directors Guild for voting for me again," shared newly elected President Saladin Lavlu. "I hope to improve this organisation and work towards its development with more dedication this time."

The total number of voters in the Directors Guild is 397. 359 votes were counted and 28 have been cancelled.
