Renowned actor Pijush Bandyoapadhyay turns 70

Today marks the 70th birthday of Pijush Bandyopadhyay, a renowned name in Bangladeshi theatre, radio, television and films. He is also a talented elocutionist, columnist and author.

Pijush Bandyopadhyay is one of the founders of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation and Bangladesh Gram Theatre. He was the Executive President of Gram Theatre for a long time. Additionally, he is the former Director General of BTV and former Managing Director of BFDC.

 As a member of Dhaka Theatre, he was a part of many remarkable theatrical productions, such as Kionkhela, Prachyo, Bonpangshul, Shakuntola, and Bashon, among others.

During the 80s, he played Shahed in BTV's hit show Shokal Shondhya, for which he earned accolades.

Pijush Bandyopadhyay made his debut in films with the Morshedul Islam directorial, Agami. Since then, he has been winning over audiences with his versatility and powerful presence in films. Some of his notable works are Kionkhola, Guerrilla, Ekattorer Jishu, Adhiyar, Amar Achhe Jol, Amar Bondhu Rashed and Meghla Akash. The film, Polashi Theke Dhanmondi, is considered one of his finest works till date.

"These years have flown by in a flash, being busy with work and surrounded by my loved ones," he shares. "I have overcome many hurdles and hardships in my life, including the dark days of 1975. Yet, people's love has kept me spirited."
