Remembering the wizard of words on his 8th death anniversary

Today marks the eighth death anniversary of renowned writer and director Humayun Ahmed. On this day, we look back at his life, and his brilliant career in literature, television and cinema.

Ahmed was instrumental in building people's interest in Bengali literature, so much so that even after his demise, his books are best-sellers at the Ekushey Book Fair every year. He was the highest paid author in the country, and he was equally successful as a scriptwriter and film director. His unconditional love for nature and fascination with paranormal events, reflect in his literary works.

Ahmed began his writing career with Nondito Noroke. His last project was the book, Deyal Chandoshokha. Anwesha Publications even released the cover. However, he could not write the book. 'Nuhashpolli', named after his son, was the author's dream house. He loved clicking photos of his sons, Nishad and Ninit, and also liked to paint, at his residence in Dhanmondi.

Ahmed also loved to travel in groups. Renowned writer Imdadul Haq Milan explained that the author loved entertaining people.

For more than forty years, Ahmed has ruled the hearts of millions with his brilliance.
