Pooja Sengupta and Turongomi School of Dance become members of UNESCO’s CID

Renowned dancer Pooja Sengupta and the Turongomi School of Dance, were announced as official members of UNESCO’s International Dance Council (CID), recently. The Turongomi School of Dance was established to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the Turongomi Repertory Dance Theatre. Pooja Sengupta is the founder and director of the organisation. It was established to promote dancing as a proper profession and to introduce new dance forms in the contemporary dance scene of Bangladesh. It uses both theatre and poetry in its dance and choreography. It was the first dance theatre and dance-based repertory.  On the other hand, UNESCO’s CID is the official organisation for forms of dance across the world.
