Poet Talim Hossain's 100th Birth Anniversary Observed

To celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of eminent poet Talim Hossain, a discussion and cultural programme was recently held at Bangladesh National Museum.

The event commenced with a choral performance of the Talim Hossain composed song Manusher Manchitre Ebar Ferao Nek Nazar by his family members, while the poet's son, Shahriar Chowdhury, delivered the welcome address.

National Professor Anisuzzaman and National Professor Rafiqul Islam were present as the special guests at the event. Eminent personalities in Bengali Literature, including poet Asad Chowdhury, children's writer Ali Imam, poet Mohammad Nurul Huda, author Hazera Nazrul, poet Jahnara Arzu, poet Mustafa Zaman Abbasi were also present at the event and expressed their admiration towards Talim Hossain.

The poet's daughter, Nazrul Geeti singer Shabnam Mustari said that Talim Hossain built a legacy in Bengali literature that should be passed forward to the generations to come. 

Talim Hossain was a prominent Nazrul researcher and editor of the literary magazine 'Mahe Nao'. He was one of the initiators to formulate the Swaralipi (notations) of Nazrul Sangeet. He was awarded with the prestigious Ekushey Padak for his contribution to Bangla literature in 1982. The poet passed away on February 21, 1999.
