Poet-filmmaker Tokon Thaakoor arrested

Noted poet and filmmaker Tokon Thaakoor was arrested at night yesterday (October 25).

According to latest reports, he was unable to submit the government granted film, "Kaata", on time. As a result, a case was filed against him by the Ministry of Information.

S M Kaium, OC of the New Market Police Station, has confirmed his arrest to The Daily Star over the phone.

When asked to clarify the reason behind the arrest, the officer said, "An arrest warrant was issued in a case against Tokon Thaakoor. He will be taken to the court today." However, he did not reveal any further details about the case.

Noted filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki wrote a post on his Facebook profile, expressing grief about the matter.
