‘Nonajoler Kabbo’ heads to Busan for its Asian Premiere

World premiere at the 64th BFI London Film Festival in October

Promising filmmaker Rezwan Shahriar Sumit's first feature film, Nonajoler Kabbo, (The Salt in Our Waters) has been an official selection at the 25th Busan International Film Festival (21-30th October 2020). Busan is Asia's biggest film festival and a leader in premiering the most exciting international talents. Sumit's film is the only Bangladeshi feature length film in the selection, and it will play alongside acclaimed titles such as Chaitanya Tamhane's The Disciple (Venice, FIPRESCI winner) and Ivan Ayr's Milestone (Venice Orizzonti). Ariq Anam Khan's short film Transit is the only other project from Bangladesh in this year's highly competitive slate.

The world premiere of film will take place at the prestigious 64th BFI London Film Festival on October 13, 2020. The film is a classic clash-of-cultures tale set in a remote coastal village of Bangladesh and shines a unique light on love and resilience. It is a Bangladesh-France coproduction supported by acclaimed director Spike Lee, CNC Aide aux cinemas du monde, Film Anudan, Torino Film Lab's Audience Design Fund, IEFTA and NFDC Film Bazaar. Shot by 2020 Spirit Award nominee Chananun Chotrungroj (The Third Wife, Pop Aye), the government-sponsored film has been written and directed by Rezwan Shahriar Sumit. The virtual press meet was held on September 8, and was attended by the leading cast of film -- Fazlur Rahman Babu, Titas Zia and Tasnova Tamanna.
