National Nazrul Shommelon concludes in Netrakona

National Nazrul Shommelon concluded at Zilla Shilpakala Academy Netrakona, recently. The three-day programme, organised by Nazrul Institute in collaboration with Netrakona district administration, included rendition of Nazrul songs, recitation from his poems and dance performances on popular songs of the bard.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru inaugurated the event as the chief guest. The session began with a discussion on the poet’s life and works, with noted educationist and columnist Prof Jatin Sarker as the chief discussant.

Nazrul Institute’s Secretary and Project Director Abdur Rahim, Mayor of Netrakona Municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, Additional Police Superintendent Md Shahjahan Miah, Prof Motindra Sarker and Prof Golam Mustafaalso spoke at the discussion.

Artistes from different cultural organisations of Netrakona, including Udichi Shilpi Gosthi, performed at the programme. Neelom Biswas Ratul, Vice-President of Udichi in Netrakona, mentioned how such events inspire young artistes to perform on national poet Nazrul’s artistic creations.
