Nadira Majumder receives Anannya Shahitya Award 1426

Author Nadira Majumder has been honoured with the prestigious Anannya Sahitya Award of the Bangla year 1426. She received the award for her contribution in the field of books about science. The award was officially handed to Nadira on December 29 at Bangladesh National Museum's Poet Sufia Kamal auditorium. Professor Emeritus Sirajul Islam Chowdhury attended the ceremony as the chief guest and awarded the honorary crest to Nadira at the event. The author received a cheque of BDT 1 lakh, along with the crest and uttorio.

Presided over by social activist Maleka Khan, the event was also joined by Professor Muhammad Ibrahim as the special guest. The programme began with the screening of a documentary on Nadira’s life.

Nadira’s work made it easy for people in Bangladesh to read more science-related books. Ei Amader Prithibi, Akmeru Bonam Bohumeru, Mohabishshe Amrao Achi, Biman, Krittim Upogroho, Agneogiri O Bhumikomper Kahini, Nanaronger Biggan, Einstein Superstar, Shomoy, Tumi Ke are some of her popular books.

“Due to language barriers, science seems tough to many people,” she said. “I felt that science can also be written in interesting ways to attract people, much like literature.” She further extended her gratitude to Anannya Magazine for the recognition.

The speakers of the event also wished a speedy recovery for Anannya Magazine’s editor, Tasmima Hossain, who could not join the ceremony due to her illness.

 The Anannya Sahitya Award was established in the Bangla year 1401 (1993 in the Gregorian calendar), by Anannya Magazine. Every year, a female author is recognised for their work through the award.
