My City My Home: An online writing competition for women launched

Sampad South Asian Arts and Heritage is one of the leading arts development agencies in the UK.

The organisation has announced the launch of My City My Home -- a specially commissioned, international writing competition for women aged 16 and above from diverse communities in Birmingham (UK), Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Nritya Nandan, a dance institution directed by renowned dancer and choreographer Sharmila Banerjee, along with three other organisations are helping Sampad as project associates in Bangladesh to connect with the contestants in the country and supporting these diverse group of girls and women to participate in the virtual writing workshops.

With the aim of making this competition a response to, or a reflection on the participant's city, it will be an online contest.

According to the Director of Sampad, Piali Ray OBE, it will be a privilege to give these women an opportunity to tell their stories on the 30th anniversary year of Sampad.

A maximum of two pieces of work (poem, short story or prose) can be submitted in English or Bengali languages within December 30, 2020.

Interested participants are requested to follow the link for rules and more details: www.sampad.org.uk/project/mycitymyhome2020/
