Mujib Mane Mukti: A heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation

Commemorating the 44th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has organised a series of events for the month of August, under the title, Shilper Aaloy Bangabandhu.

The play, Mujib Mane Mukti, scripted and directed by the Director General of BSA, Liaquat Ali Lucky, premiered on August 6 at the National Theatre Hall of BSA in Dhaka. The event began with a brief discussion on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s life, followed by a cultural programme.

The play started with a simple portrayal of Bangabandhu’s childhood, carefully synchronised with a beautiful background score. As the story went on, different stages of Bangabandhu’s life were presented.

Mujib Mane Mukti highlighted Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s journey to becoming the Father of the Nation. Historic events such as the Language Movement, the Agartala Conspiracy Case, Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech, the Liberation War and Bangabandhu’s tragic death on August 15, 1975, were integral parts of the production.   

The play was performed by actors of Loko Nattya Dol, with assistance from Shahriar Kamal in sound effects, Masud Shumon and Bazrul Rahman in lighting  and Habib Tarashi in stage management. It will be staged by different actors and treatre artistes across the country, throughout the month of August.
