‘Mayar Jonjal’ wins Best South Asian Feature Film award in Arthouse Asia Film Festival

Indranil Roychowdhury directorial 'Mayar Jonjal' (Debris of Desire) has won the Best South Asian Feature Film award in the Arthouse Asia Film Festival, held in Kolkata.

This production marks the comeback of renowned actor Aupee Karim on the silver screen after 15 years.

It also casts Sohail Rana (Satya) from Prachyanat theatre troupe in Bangladesh, Chandreyee Ghosh (Beauty) from Kolkata, Minister in Charge of Information & Technology & Electronic Department, Government West Bengal Bratya Basu (Ganesh Babu).

"It is always great to win an award competing with the best films in the world in the present timeline", says Josim Ahmed, the producer of the film. "However, what makes us feel happier is the response that 'Mayar Jonjal' received from the audience. The entire hall was full to the brim, and I have received countless messages and good wishes since then," he says.

The screenplay of 'Mayar Jonjal' is based on two short stories by celebrated novelist Manik Bandyopadhyay.
