Masud Karim’s ‘Atsho Gaaner Songkolon’ launched

One of the most prominent lyricists to have graced the music industry, Masud Karim was a stalwart in his art. His finesse for poetry and song-writing, established his position as one of the greats in the entertainment world, in a relatively short time. He has numerous hit songs to his credit. Many of the eminent musicians of Bangladesh, including Shahnaz Rahmatullah, Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin, Mahmudun Nabi, Mohammed Khurshid Alam and others, have lent their voices for songs penned by Masud Karim. He won the National Film Award twice for the Best Songwriter for his contribution to the film industry.

A book titled Atsho Gaaner Songkolon, with a compilation of 800 selected lyrics by Masud Karim, was unveiled during an event held at the premises of Channel i recently. Published by Anannya Prokashoni, the book was edited by the late lyricist’s wife, Dilara Alo, who is a renowned musician.

Director of news at Channel i, Shykh Seraj, eminent musicians Sheikh Sadi Khan, Fowwad Naser Babu, Syed Abdul Hadi, Mohammed Khurshid Alam, Dilara Alo and others, were present during the launching ceremony.

Masud Karim passed away on November 16, 1996. Some of his evergreen songs include the likes of, Tondra Hara Noyon Amar, Jokhon Thambe Kolahol, Shojonigo Bhalobeshe Eto Jala, Chole Jai Jodi Keu Bhadon Chhirey, and many more.
