Many happy returns to Lucky Enam

Today marks the birthday of Ekushey Padak-winning actor, Lucky Enam. Having started her media career in 1972, she has given laudable performances in the fields of radio, television and theatre for decades. She also founded the theatre group, Nagorik Nattyangon. She plans to celebrate her birthday at home, with her grandchildren and other family members.

Lucky Enam joined the television industry in its golden era. In the critically acclaimed drama series, Kothao Keu Nei, she gave a powerful performance as a bed-ridden housewife.

She worked on another hit series, Ayomoy, along with Sara Zaker and Bipasha Hayat. "This is one of the most important television projects of my career. People still praise my performance," shares the actor.

Her portrayal of Miss Esha in another hit series, Bohubrihi, gained her a lot of popularity. "People addressed me by my character's name at the time," says Lucky Enam.

Apart from television series, she also worked on several single-episode tele-fictions. Produced by Atiqul Haque Chowdhury, Babar Kolom Kothay, was one of her most critically acclaimed projects. Nayla O Nupur, where she starred opposite Asaduzzaman Noor, was another hit show on BTV.

She was the first female artiste to play a double role on Bangladeshi television. She played the role of two sisters on BTV's Onubhobe Onubhuti, and also sang all the songs on the show. She gave a memorable performance on Coach, produced by Atiqul Haque Chowdhury. She portrayed the role of a thief's wife, opposite Humayun Faridee.

The actor has made undeniable contributions to the theatre arena.  While working with Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, Lucky Enam graced the stage with memorable performances in plays such as Nurul Diner Sharajibon and Bishorjon, among many others. In Rabindranath Tagore's Bishorjon, another acclaimed stage play, Lucky Enam portrayed Aparna, alongside Asaduzzaman Noor's Joy Singh.

The current General Secretary of Nagorik Nattyangon, Lucky Enam is a successful theatre director as well. One of her most famous works, Pragoitihashik, is based on Manik Bandopadhyay's story.  "Indian newspapers have been praising me for this production as well," she adds.
