National Award winning actor Champa entered the Bangladeshi film industry with "Tin Konna", during the 80s. Her film "Bishwoshundori" was released recently. She has received the prestigious Jyotibasu Award and the Bengal Journalist Association Award from India. Also appearing in films by Goutam Ghose and Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Champa has earned respect, both home and abroad. Today marks the birthday of this legendary diva.

The actor has not stepped outside her house since the coronavirus pandemic, but plans to do so today. "I will be visiting my daughter in Baridhara today," she says. "I am looking forward to celebrating the day with grandchildren, Arzaan and Arisha."

The actor has also been unable to visit her sisters, eminent actors Babita and Shuchanda, even though they all live in Dhaka. "I last visited Babita last year during Pohela Boisakh," she adds. "However, we speak over the phone regularly."

Though Champa is not shooting now, she is spending busy days in her garden. "Gardening keeps me happy and I have always wanted to pursue it as a hobby," shares the actor. "I have also bought an embroidery machine, and I am working on a piece for the last 8 months. I am trying to make a portrait of a big sailing ship, and plan to gift it to my grandchildren when I am done."

The actor also likes to watch drama serials and movies from time to time. "I don't like to watch my own films. Instead, I have been watching Turkish and Korean dramas recently and I must say, they are quite entertaining," she shares.

Champa reveled that she has no Facebook account or page. "All the accounts on Facebook in my name are fake. I hope for all my fans to be safe and healthy, and ask for their prayers," she concludes.
