The first trailer of Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women has just released and it looks as promising as ever.

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s 1868 novel, this literary classic tells the story of the four March sisters- Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy, as each of them are determined to live life on her own terms. Set in the aftermath of the American Civil War, this semiautobiographical novel is a tale of love, growth, sacrifice and independence. So far there has been a good number of adaptations of the work including films, stage dramas, TV and anime series etc. This would be the 8th movie adaptation of the novel.

Gerwig crafted the movie that draws on both the novel and writings by Louisa May Alcott. The movie stars Saoirse Ronan as the author’s alter ego- Jo, Emma Watson as Meg, Eliza Scanlen as Beth, Florence Pugh as Amy, Laura Dern as Marmee, Meryl Streep as Aunt March, and Timothée Chalamet as Laurie among others.

The movie is set to be released on 25th December, 2019.
