Kamar Ahmad Simon’s ‘Onnodin…’ heads to Amsterdam for editing

Kamar Ahmad Simon’s ‘Onnodin…’ (Day After...) is going to Amsterdam for editing. ‘Onnodin…’ has been selected for IDFAcademy Summer School, an exclusive platform of International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).

Onnodin… was awarded competitive grants from the IDFA Bertha Fund and Sundance Film Festival in 2013. In 2016, Kamar was honoured with Locarno Film Festival’s Open Doors Hub’s best award at Piazza Grande alongside ARTE International Prize for the script of Onnodin… He was further invited at Cannes Film Festival in 2017 to attend L’atelier, a programme for 15 filmmakers from around the world. European cultural channel ARTE also selected Onnodin… for screening in La Lucarne, an exclusive programme that only screens films that challenge the contemporary world of cinema.

Onnodin… is the second film in Kamar’s ‘Water Trilogy’. The first film of the trilogy titled, Shunte Ki Pao! (Are You Listening!) was in the official  selection of IDFA in 2012. It won a number of international awards including the Golden Conch for best film, the Best Cinematography Award in Mumbai International FIlm Festival, Grand Prix in Cinema Du Reel in Paris for Best Film and the National Film Award. Onnodin… is produced by Sara Afreen and a co-production of French DW, Barentsfilm of Norway and Studio Beginning of Bangladesh. Invited by IDFA, Saikat Shekhareshwar Ray, editor of the film, will also join Kamar at Amsterdam in the first week of July. Saikat is a faculty member of the editing department in Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute and he also edited Shunte Ki Pao?
