“I cried when I found out Rehana Maryam Noor was officially selected for Cannes” - Badhon

Director Abdullah Mohammad Saad's "Rehana Maryam Noor" became the first Bangladeshi film to feature in a major segment in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Noted actor Azmeri Haque Badhon, who plays the lead role in the film, was overwhelmed at the announcement.

"I have no words, this feeling cannot be compared" says Badhon, who is now a part of history thanks to the film. "I worked with a talented young team for this film and they are very hardworking and surpassed all expectations," she says.

"I cried when I found out Rehana Maryam Noor was officially selected for Cannes, these were tears of joy and achievement." The actress dedicates this achievement to every Bangladeshis citizen. "This is our very own film, and we are proud of it. This achievement was made possible by each and every member of the cast and crew."

Badhon attributes working on "Rehana Maryam Noor" to be the best decision in her career. "I was on a break for almost one and a half years, and then I decided to work on this project. Needless to say, I am glad I did."  

The cast and crew of the film are receiving felicitations from all over. "Everyone is congratulating us and sharing their wishes on social media. Colleagues, artistes, journalists, and close ones have reached out to me, and I am glad to share this achievement with everyone."

Azmeri Haque Badhon stepped into the entertainment industry after winning the 2nd runner-up title at Lux Channel i Superstar 2006, before making her way into acting. The celebrated Bangladeshi artiste recently wrapped up shooting with acclaimed Indian director Srijit Mukherji's first Hoichoi original series, "Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni".
