‘GSCPC presents Fundraiser Photography Competition’ concludes

The judges and hosts during the Facebook Live of Grand Finale.

The grand finale of the three-day event GSCPC presents Fundraiser Photography Competition was held live online from broadcast partner Kishoralo and Government Science College Photography Club (GSCPC)'s official Facebook page, recently. The news partner of this event was The Daily Star.

Street photographer Muhammad Imam Hasan, filmmakers Jubaer Talukder and Affan Aziz Pritul, and photographer Nihab Rahman were present during the live session. The jury members shared their journey to inspire the contestants. They also mentioned how the works by these young and talented visual artistes, conveying unique representations of objects and social concepts in a fresh dimension, have inspired and pleased them.

Six promising photographers, in two mediums (Mobile and DSLR camera) were awarded with prize moneys in the 'single photo' segment. The winners in the category of single photos using mobile phone camera are: Kazi Muhaiminul Islam Munajare for Frame in Frame (first prize), Aminul Islam for Black & White (second prize), and Mohammad Faisal Mazid for Mother is the best teacher (third prize). The winners in the category of single photos using DSLR camera are: Md Saiful Amin for Corona pandemic in Dhaka (first prize), Sourav Dasgupta for All about shelter (second prize), and Mohammad Nihal Nahyan for Third Person Singular Number (third prize).

Kazi Muhaiminul Islam Munaj bagged the prize for Photo series for his work Existence – College and Murshidul Alam Bhuiyan's Shongya was the selected as the best film, whereas Tawhid Ur Rashid secured the first position in the 'post-processing' segment of this competition. The winners of the 'photo quiz' segment are: Taj Tania Meem from Shaheed Bir Uttam Lt Anwar Girls' College (first place), Shahed-Ur Rahman Dipro from Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College (second place), and Sazzad Ahmed Koreshe from North South University (third place). All the winners received special gifts from Gadget Monkey, the tech partner of this even.

Over 500 single photos, 12 photo series, and 20 films were submitted during this competition. The revenue generated for this event will be donated to Bidyanondo, a non-profit social organisation, by the end of this week and the winners will be receiving their prizes and gifts in a couple of days.
