‘Gandhi@150 Art Camp’ held in Sreemangal

Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, an art camp, titled Gandhi@150 Art Camp, was held at Sreemangal Tea Resort & Museum in Moulvibazar, recently. The event was organised by the High Commission of India. Fifteen young artists from Bangladesh participated in the art camp.

Deputy High Commissioner Bishwadip Dey visited the art camp on Saturday as third day and interacted with the artists and journalists as a chief guest.

“I’m pleased to see enthusiastic participation by the young artists in the camp. Their works are indeed reflective of their understanding of the Gandhian philosophy,” he said. “Gandhi’s principles are timeless and it is encouraging to see that it has found resonance in the minds of these young artists.”

The government of India has been commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi across the country and in Indian Missions abroad. The Gandhi@150 Art Camp is a part of the High Commission of India’s commemoration for this year.

Assistant High Commissioner of Sylhet L Krisnamurthy attended as a special guest. Renowned artist and Fine Art Professor, University of Dhaka Rokeya Sultana was the mentor of the camp. Deepthi Alanghat, Second Secretary (Media, Information and Culture) conducted the camp.
