Death anniversary of Promoth Chowdhury observed in Pabna

A discussion, marking the 73rd death anniversary of renowned Bengali writer, Promoth Chowdhury, was held in Pabna on Monday. The speakers demanded the establishment of a museum at Haripur, in honour of the writer. Promoth Chowdhury was the pride of Pabna. His ancestral residence is in the village, Haripur, in the Chatmohar upazila under the district. The programme was organised by the Promoth Chowdhury Smrity Shangrakhhan Parishad, at the Chatmohar Upazila Parishad.

 President of the organisation Iqbal Kabir Ronju chaired it, while the Chatmohar UNO, Sarkar Ashim Kumar, spoke as the chief guest. Among others, the secretary of the organisation, Advocate Abdul Momin Sarkar, Haripur Union Parishad Chairman, Md Mokbul Hossain, Chatmohar Traders’ Association President, Belal Hossain, spoke as well.

The speakers shed light on Promoth Chowdhury’s integral role in developing Bangla prose. Promoth Chowdhury passed away on September 2, 1946.
