Chhayanaut cancels Pohela Boishakh programme

Chhayanaut has announced that this year, they will not organise the annual Pohela Boishakh cultural programme at Ramna Park, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The organisation, founded in 1961, has earned praise for organizing the extravagant cultural festival for Pohela Boishakh under the banyan tree at Ramna Park to welcome the Bengali New Year.

The organisers and performers have postponed their activities and started helping out the destitute residents since the Independence Day. Earlier, the Cabinet Division instructed the authorities concerned to postpone all programmes of Pohela Boishakh, to avoid mass gatherings.
